I have been thinking of someday starting a literary/action magazine, and though it has been on the back burner for so many years, I have finally started the ball rolling.
The venture will be called: “Lucidity Magazine” It will work in concert with the online site: www.luciditymagazine.com as well as have unique articles not found online.
The publication will start 1 January 2009, and will begin as a quarterly magazine, but with the hope that it will someday grow to monthly. The unique nature of this magazine from all others, is in the way it is written and compiled. Feeler letters will go out to all of the major colleges and universities all over the world with a call for submissions.
I hope to interest the thinkers of the world, and thereby to establish a global forum for the discussion of issues that have both global import, and those that are of such delicate nature that they can be aired no where else.
The site is now offline while I iron out some design issues, but please check back often.

Once upon a time, I had a full day to work with. When I was running my garage, I could wake up, and be in my shop around 7:30am or I would open it as late as 8:00am, then I would work the full day, and shut down around 5pm or sometimes a little later.
This would allow me to get all of my work done, and have filler time to work on personal projects, and to also sit a moment and take a breather if I liked. I was able to be hands-on, and it was possible to plan for events that would take me away from the shop from time to time.
Now that I work (a regular job) I only have about 2 hours to do the things that I need. I try to make the best use of them, but since I have to devote such a large block of time to my daily job, I am falling behind in projects, and am getting backed up with ideas.
It has always been a struggle, that when I have the time to work on my projects; I lack the funds, and when i have the funds, I don’t have the time.
Would that it were as it was in days of old, I could find some wealthy sponsor to be my patron, and they could share in the glory of my inventions, and successes.

It is the season for Political Signs. There are hundreds of them sticking up like uninspired flowers, all over the hillsides, and lawns of this town. They are for republicans, democrats, and for independents.
For national races, and for local ones. The names blend into each other, and the slogans blazoned on each sound like cheap fortune cookie messages.
They crowd out one another for space, as if vying for a better vantage point to shout their messages to passing traffic.
The colors are always dull reds, blues, and whites. I realize that those are the national colors, but when every candidate tries to paint themselves with these colors to try and prove that they are somehow ‘All American’ it loses something in the wash. Are they all afraid to break out, and to use other- more eye-catching colors?
If I were running for office I would look to make my signs as bright and bold as possible. Red and blues would be out, I would use colors that would draw the eye, and separate myself from the pack.
I am sure that there would be those who would see my lack of interest in the ‘traditional colors’ a red flag, but I would bet that there would be a balancing number who would mark my name on the ballot simply because I have the guts to push away from the political surface and take flight with my own wings.

I am the Writer who does not write, and the poet with few poems.
I see myself as a writer, that is my self identity. When i see myself in my minds-eye, I am a writer pure and simple. I relate to the world as a writer, I refer to myself as a writer… Yet I do not write.
Oh sure, I pen a few sentences once in a while, and often I will dive whole-heartedly back into a novel or article i have been writing for a while, but in the long run, I haven’t really written all that much. A few short stories, thirty or so poems, and five or six novels in various stages of completion…
Pitiful I think. Though I know this, it seems that the pressing moments of my life take precedence over that which I really desire to do. Yes, that desire is to write.
So I come to the crux of the issue: I must simply steal the time to write from other interests. I must be a miser when it comes to my free time, and devote myself to the task as though I were a Buddhist Monk in meditation.
I know that to resolve to do this is no small thing, and would be easy to just forget and eventually just lost interest completly. Yet, if I do, I shall live my life in regret. I am now 25, and have known I am to be a writer for a full ten years. What others have accomplished in ten years leaves me to shame.
From this day forth I shall devote some time each day to my pen. EVERY DAY.

Just listening to that song, and it struck me how like our times it was then. Sad, but really so little has changed in the world.

Well my Podcast Kit has arrived, and I am quite pleased with the quality of it. Especially the microphone. I have started to work with it, and looking ahead, I expect to launch the first episode of “Stray Poetry” On the 1st Of March, and a new show each, and every Saturday thereafter. Please watch here for more info. Just for a teaser; the title of the first show is: “Napoleon” I hope you will subscribe, and listen.
I intend to add it to the iTunes listing, and also have it as a direct subscribe here on the Blog, as well as more info, and some research links here.
I will also attempt to syndicate it on Broadcast Radio once I have worked all the bugs out of the process. (Six months to a year from now)
This is not simply a program of poetry, no it will be a mixture of poetry, prose, and wit. A melding of poetic ideas, and mental images.
Stay tuned for more.

Well, I am always getting into another interest before the previous one is over, but yet another is gripping me. I have always wanted to learn guitar. I have always wanted to learn an instrument, and the Guitar seems like the logical place to start. ( I did once try to learn the Violin, but I lent it to someone, and never got it back)
I will probably start with the acoustic guitar, and then later move to electric. I will try and hold off on this for at-least a few more months!

I am in State college Pa, visiting some friends, and I am writing this on A Macbook. I have been thinking of getting either the Air, or the Macbook Pro, so this is a sort of test to see if I like the keyboard, and the whole mac experience. Anyway, I was just looking on Amazon at the Sony MZM200 HIMD recording system, and I have been thinking of possibly getting one to record podcasts on.
I think however, that I will simply get a mono tabletop mic, and just record at home using Audacity to edit for now. i don’t really need to spend the cash right now since I am working on the house so much, that I think that is much more of a priority. So I will wait until I get a solid base behind my podcasting, before I invest the $380 or so for the portable recorder.
I am going to go to the Sprint store here in town today, and see if they will repair my Motorola V9m (the outer glass is cracked, and I don’t feel like changing it myself because of the haptics on the front display.
Ami and I are just trying to take it easy today, so that’s how our day looks.

I am thinking of starting a daily Podcast about what else: Poetry. I would read a bit of poetry, and comment on it, perhaps a 10 minute episode each time. Perhaps I would also solicit listeners poetry? Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps.

I was brainstorming a few days ago, and had the idea that a site to develop would be like a community of iPhone users, and Touch users that would be a kind of ‘microsphere’ on the net of like minded users with a home applet that would serve as a sort of twitter/jaiku hybrid (with a slightly different feel, more of a global location based discussion, when you are within a definable range of another user they would become part of the neighborhood that is your interaction group, and they would be able to see your activity automatically)
Anyway, I thought the name Iphonation would be a good url, but when I searched for it (no surprise) it was taken…. Doesn’t look like it has been updated in like a year and a half, but I doubt I would have the cash they would want for it anyway.
Oh well.. Next idea.
